Journal 7 - Superstitions

I am a very superstitious person. One might even say I am one of the most superstitious people around. I am not one of those crazy people who never washes their underwear. That is gross. But the only time I am superstitious is with my running and bike racing. I always wear the same things. The same shoes, socks, shorts, jersey, and sweatband. The sweatband is the only thing which does not get washed, which I do not think it is too disgusting, just a little bit. I usually do the same routine as close to possible as I did the race before. I drink out of the same water bottle even if this means pouring water from a different water bottle into the water bottle I drink from. Another thing I do during race season that involves superstitions is I never cut my hair during the season. So usually right before the season I will be participating in is when I get my haircut pretty short. Then it grows wild and crazy for the next three months until my season, and hopefully the state race is over. I am not however a weird person who never washes any thing or thinks karma is real. That would be weird. I also do not like people who think wearing something really obnoxious is cool. A superstition of mine is to make fun of these people for how stupid they look. I think that can be included as a ritual of mine because I do it before every race. Some people get tied down to superstition and it really holds them back. They can not function properly without doing some crazy ritual or being superstitious, like superstitious man. He is like super man only superstitious. If only I was not superstitious at all because then I would not have to worry about anything besides a race. That would be my biggest dream come true!
